Officers were called to outside The Wheatsheaf pub on Kingston Road around 3.30pm on December 9 after receiving reports that a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing had been found in an alleyway next to the pub.

Tragically, despite the best efforts of police, paramedics, and members of the public, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has now been named by Surrey Police as 23-year-old Alfonso (Alfie) Sibley. A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder.

He was remanded and appeared at Guildford Magistrates' Court on December 15. The teen was remanded and is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Monday (December 22).

A second 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy, and a 20-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of murder. They have all since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Surrey Police said: "Our thoughts remain with his family, who have requested privacy to come to terms with their loss, and we ask that their wishes are respected. The death has also been referred to the Surrey Coroner."
